So he said to him: "O my son, knowledge and deed are two coupled brothers, neither of them stands except by its companion; so the standing of knowledge, its essence, and its pillar is faith, and the standing of deed, its essence, and its pillar is the preservation of the brothers."

He said to him: "O my master, what is the mandatory reason?" He said to him: "That you couple faith with the preservation of the brothers."

[19] He said to him: "A report we narrated on the authority of our masters, the People of the House, on the authority of Jabir bin Yazid al-Ju'fi, on the authority of the splitter of knowledge, transcended his might, that he said: 'Indeed, God, Blessed and Exalted is He, created the souls of the believers from one light, neither differing nor changing, and He, Majestic is His name, appeared to that light with luminousness, so it recognized Him and acknowledged Him, and He called it so it conversed with Him, and it responded to Him, so He aided it with a spirit from Him, and that light became a spiritual, pure, illuminating spirit, and He, Majestic is His name, chose for that light houses which He purified and sanctified, and hearts which He guided and cleared,
