of whom I used to feel comfort with him and love his lecturing and his companionship, I met with him one night of the nights and the time was between us vacant, we partaking of some "Abd al-Nur" (a symbolic term for drink in mystic companionship) and we converse secretly between us of the known and the hidden, and we negotiated in the oddities of reports and the approved elements of traditions, and we remembered the description of our believing brothers from the predecessors and the successors who knew the certainty of the eye and drank from the spring water and professed the oneness of their master, Al-Anza' al-Baṭeen, and knew his veil, the firmly-established name, and entered from his gate, the trustworthy spirit, and what belongs to them of the compilations which they registered in their protected books and what they transmitted of the concealed reports and what they composed of the rhythmic poetry and what belongs to them of the good traditions and the approved narrations from what they followed of the traditions of the masters, the scholars, and quoted it from the mouths of the virtuous, so everyone spoke and compiled by the amount of what he reached and became aware of,
