according to the saying of the Christians: "In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit"—for the Father is an allusion to the Meaning (al-Ma'na), the Holiness to the Name (al-Ism), the Spirit is our master Salman, and the Son is al-Miqdad 1 .

And it is like our saying: "By Abu Turab I seek opening, and through him I triumph and succeed, and upon him I rely—and he is my Lord and the Lord of my first forefathers, Ali, the Commander of the Faithful."

Thus, the Commander of the Faithful, His glory is magnificent, is an allusion to the Meaning (al-Ma'na), the Exalted. The word "He" (Huwa) is an allusion to the Name, since it is a name among some of His names. "Abu Turab" consists of two words: one of them is "Abu", which is an allusion to our master Salman, peace be upon him, and "Turab" is an allusion to our master al-Miqdad—so he is in the position of the Son.

Footnotes

1In Al-Risalah al-Masihiyyah by al-Jilli: "In the name of the Father, Ali, the Prince of the Bees; the Son, Muhammad of Praise, Lord of the Worlds; and the Holy Spirit, Salman, the restorer of all the angels, and thereafter..." / And in Al-Risalah al-Misriyyah: "Our Master al-Sadiq, His glory is magnificent, was asked about the Holiness, and he said: 'The Holiness is Salman, and as for the Holy Spirit, it is Muhammad, His glory is magnificent, because the spirit is the life of holiness.'"
