outward of the Name is the light of light, which is the Radiance that constitutes the reality of the inward aspect of the Gate.

The Mim, majestic is His mention, is the entity that constitutes the center and the two extremes—meaning the outward and the inward—and he is called the Mim, majestic is His mention. The inward of the Sin is the outward of the Name and the light of light, which is called the Radiance; and its outward is the reality of the inward aspect 1 of the Alif. The Sin is the entity known by the Radiance, and it is the center and the two extremes, which are the inward and the outward. The inward of the Alif is the outward of the Sin, and the reality of the Shadow is the light of the Radiance, and its outward is the body from which the pure worlds were created and from which the segments of creation were fashioned. Thus, these nine things are lights connected one to another, and they possess nine persons: the Name (al-Ism), the Gate (al-Bab), the Five Orphans (al-Aytam al-Khamsah), and the Two Guardians (al-Waliyyan). For each one of these nine, there is a distinct adversary and opponent, and they are the nine corrupting factions (al-tis'atu rahtin al-mufsidin).
