These are names of identification that fall upon the form through which He interacted [with] 1 the world, and the One named by them is more ancient than them. It is His saying to us: "To Him belong the meaning of the names, and from the letters [their origin]" 2 . It has thus become clear that the philosophers hold a belief that approaches our belief for they say: "Indeed, the Creator is the Necessary Existentialist (Wajib al-Wujud) by His very Essence, One from all directions, neither multiplying in number, nor characterized [by a duration of time]3."

From Him proceeded an Intellect ('Aql), then that Intellect comprehended itself and its Creator, and they said: "Indeed, it is possible of existence (Mumkin al-Wujud)," so it was named Intellect, Intellector, and Intelligible ('Aqlan wa 'Aqilan wa Ma'qulan). For this reason, the unification of the three and the triplicity of the one are valid, with no difference and no separation, because they are a single, multi-faceted entity, constituting a singular world,
