rather, your concern is the inclination toward every powerful tyrant and the avoidance of the choice believers, and you have satisfied [the physical body] 1 and fatigued yourself with that which will cause you loss, due to your total submission to food and drink, which tomorrow you will be stripped of.
[7]And you did not ponder the saying of the Commander of the Faithful, His glory is magnificent: " Make your bodily form an instrument for your spirituality [in service of it], and do not make your spirituality subservient to your bodily form, thereby killing the living with the dead, and becoming regretful over what you have done."
And you said in your debate: "Whoever loves God and loves the world, then two beloveds have occupied his heart." Yet you, O Sheikh, your love for the world is that which has distanced you from the believers the agreeing [ones], and the love of children—they are the idols taken besides God, and the love of spouses—they are the inverted devils. As for me, by the help of God and the beauty of His success, I have not taken any of these spouses and children, and I have made my soul patient out of chastity,
