God the Almighty states: "God blights usury and gives increase to charities." 1

Yet we see that the usurer, in the exoteric sense, does not part with a single dirham except to receive two in return; and when one dirham becomes two, it is not blighted, but rather increases and grows.

This demonstrates that this principle has an esoteric interior (batin), which is the transactional handling of knowledge.

Usury in the esoteric sense is the disclosure of knowledge for the sake of dispute, contention, and the pursuit of leadership among the believers; this is the very wealth that God blights.

Look, therefore, O Sheikh, at what you yourself have done—[and your squandering of] 2 knowledge upon those who are undeserving of it, and your tyranny over your brothers.

[And from this clarification, it becomes mandatory that]3 if any one of you loves a person and wishes to initiate him into this matter, he must not seek him for himself.
