[77] And on the authority of Ibn Sinan, peace be upon him, from al-Mufaddal ibn 'Umar, peace be upon him, who said: My Master stated: "Whosoever recognizes God solely from the perspective of the Name has remained ignorant of more than he has known; whosoever equates the Name and the Meaning has committed polytheism (ashraka); whosoever claims that He cannot be seen at all has deferred to an absent, hidden entity; whosoever claims that eyes [perceive Him] 1 has likened Him to His creation; whosoever claims that He resides within His creation like a thing contained within another thing has circumscribed Him and given Him a body; whosoever removes Him entirely from His creation has [negated Him and emptied2 His dominion of Him; whosoever claims that He is veiled from His creation has relegated Him behind the veil; but whosoever recognizes Him through His divine power and points to Him from the locus where His signpost has manifested, those are truly the companions of the Commander of the Faithful."
