[67] And it is narrated on the authority of our Master al-Rida, majestic is his glory, that he said: ["When the divine power takes place, the form is removed, and God takes full charge of it, while people continue to look upon us."] 1
[68] And our Master al-Sadiq, majestic is his glory, stated: ["They see us] 2 at the manifestation of the power while they are incapable of looking upon anything other than us, whereas we are [withdrawn/removed] 3 even though our forms remain fixed within their eyes."
This demonstrates that the Meaning (al-Ma'na), within the plane of Imamate, [effects removal, and this removal only falls upon the attribute of the Name and its likeness] 4 , which is intrinsically bound to the Name, because the Name is the locus of names and attributes. The Meaning, however, is uniquely characterized by power through His own Essence, never comingling with His Name nor His Gate, for the Name is the form, the exemplar, and the final goal.
