The description of the Essence and the form is that both are unrestricted; thus, the Essence and the form are identical in description, because the visible form exists for the sake of manifestation, and it is the impenetrable Unseen that manifests however it wills, entirely unconfined.

[57]Our Master al-Sadiq, majestic is his glory, was questioned regarding the decisive (al-muhkamat) and the allegorical (al-mutashabihat) verses. He, majestic is his glory, replied: "The decisive are the Essential manifestations (al-zhuhurat al-dhatiyyah), while the allegorical are the representational manifestations (al-zhuhurat al-mithliyyah) which led the people of sensory mixture [and turbidity] 1 to imagine that the Meaning manifested [exactly as his Name] 2 , whereas the people of purity do not perceive Him [except by an Anza' Batin manifesting by His own Essence] 3 ."
