By the help of God, I shall expose the true lineage to which 'Ismat al-Dawlah—may God make his ultimate return beautiful—actually attributed himself.

They narrated from him that he said: "My hearing is from Abu Sa'id." Yet, when they speak through anyone according to this [corrupt] doctrine, they say: "My hearing is from so-and-so, from the Emir 'Ali 'Alm al-Dawlah, from Sadiq al-'Ilm, from 'Ismat al-Dawlah, from Abu Sa'id, from al-Jilli, from al-Khasibi, from Abu Muhammad 'Abdullah al-Jannan, from the Greatest Orphan (al-Yatim al-Akbar), from Abu Shu'ayb, peace be upon him, from al-Hasan al-'Askari, majestic is his glory"—continuing down the line until they say: "Indeed, the Messenger of God, majestic is his glory, heard from the Commander of the Faithful, majestic is his glory. According to them, 'Ali and Muhammad are one and the same entity, speaking on behalf of what we have mentioned.

However, these spiritual lineages possess no reality, nor do they trace back to any authentic parentage or eloquent doctrine; rather, their true progenitor is Zayd al-Hasib, may God curse him, for I have read some of his own compositions and discovered within them these fabricated lineages and embellishments.
