[They further claim] that he who was an embryo in the entrails was brought into being merely by the physical, bloody natures, and that the believer has no spirit other than this one. It is to this spirit that they point, and it is the very form by which they bear witness to one another, when one of them says to another: "I bear witness that you are my ultimate goal and my Meaning," because it is the inner meaning of the human form—the speaking flesh—and "You are I, and I am you."

[53]And [they misinterpret] the statement of the Master the Messiah, majestic is his glory: "None shall ascend to the kingdom of heaven unless he is born twice."

"The Doctrines of the Errant Sects and the Exoneration of 'Iṣmat al-Dawlah [the Inviolate Sanctuary of the Doctrine]' from Them" — with a footnote explaining the term.

By the first birth, they mean: the address from the Master (al-Sayyid); and by the second: the speaking of the Imam through him. These two are the heaven and the earth, and it [the true transformation] takes place from the moment of the address up to the speaking of the Imam.
