He, majestic is his glory, replied: "When our master willed to manifest His power [by knit-binding His Essence] 1 , He established Salman in a manner similar to how He had established His Name. He then said: 'O Salman, do you recognize Me?'—having manifested to him in the Hashemite, Alid form. Salman replied: 'Yes, You are God, there is no god but You, the Eternal, the Pre-existent, my Lord and the Lord of all creation.'

Then He manifested in the form of al-Hasan and the rest of the Imamic forms through which [the Mim] 2 had manifested. Every time the Master manifested to Salman in one of these forms, He would say: 'O Salman, do you recognize Me?' and Salman would reply: 'Yes, O my master, You are You, O my master, there is no god but You, [the Eternal] 3 ,' and he would prostrate at every manifestation, until he had performed twelve prostrations. Every time he made a prostration, He bestowed a letter upon him. Thus, twelve letters were completed corresponding to twelve prostrations, and these are the letters of La ilaha illa Allah (There is no god but God).
