And He is [the Sublime, the Supreme] 1 , manifesting on the day of the White Return (al-Raj'ah al-Bayda') and the Radiant Recurrence (al-Karrah al-Zahra') from the eye of the sun. He is the Eye of Eyes, the Eye of Certainty ('Ayn al-Yaqin) in the Book of God, and the Eye of Eyes that sustains all other eyes. This is the murky spring (al-'Ayn al-Hami'ah), according to the statement of the Exalted: "Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it setting in a murky spring, and he found near it a people. We said, 'O Dhul-Qarnayn, either you punish them or else adopt among them [a way of] goodness.'" 2

And the statement of our Sheikh, may God sanctify his soul: "Indeed, the blazing flame that appeared to Moses, majestic is his glory, was the Meaning," according to the statement of the Exalted: "He perceived from the side of the mount a fire." 3 [And it was] 4 his Master. "He said to his family, 'Stay here; indeed, I have perceived a fire. Perhaps I can bring you from it a burning brand.'" 5 The "family" here refers to the believers.
