Why then did you not say that the Meaning, majestic and exalted, manifested in the likeness of [the form of the Gate] 1 through which the Name appeared, even though it belongs to the personages of the Name?"

The answer is: The Name, His glory is magnificent, is the Gate of the Meaning, majestic and exalted. Thus, when the Meaning manifests in the likeness of the form of the Veil and occults it beneath the shimmering of the Light, [the Name] 2 manifests through the Gate, so that he functions as the Gate of the Meaning when He is outwardly visible to the eyes. [The Meaning] 3 is the One who names all names, and the names belong to Muhammad, His glory is magnificent—who is the Name and the Veil, and likewise the locus of names, attributes, and descriptions. Similarly, Salman, peace be upon him, is the locus of the names, attributes, and descriptions of al-Sayyid Muhammad, His glory is magnificent.
