and it is the source of evils that our master al-Sadiq, His glory is magnificent, mentioned in the Book of Phantoms and Shadows (Kitab al-Ashbah wa-al-Azillah), through which denial occurs at the onset of every call. It is the very incapacity (al-'ajz) that the Originator establishes before the Adversary at the moment of death and slaying.
Thus, [the Adversary] beholds his own denying self cast down before him, and he witnesses the flow of darkness within his standing form—which is the very essence of his dark self that constitutes his flaw. He is entirely blinded [by the course of wickedness] 1 , and the Originator has set it up for him; so he looked upon it and, deeming it to be the form of Habil, majestic is His power, he struck it. Consequently, the blow delivered by his own hand falls upon his own dark self, which he falsely presumes to be the form of the one he is striking. Thus, the obfuscation and incapacity fall upon him, not upon the Originator.
Meanwhile, the Originator has manifested the occultation, appearing outwardly in the new, anticipated station.
