This is just as the Sheikh Abu Abdillah, may God sanctify him, said in the Chapter of Guidance (Bab al-Hidayah):

Neither is He a bounded thing to be restricted, nor Was He a non-thing, to be negated with the negation of a denier.

So exalted is God above the boundary of anthropomorphism and the boundary of divine divestment (hadd al-ta'til). If the Originator has blessed us with His existence, shall we then render Him of the same genus as His creation? And shall we confine Him within physical bodies?

[27]Indeed, Ibn Shu'bah, may God be pleased with him, said 1 : "The knowledge of God within physical bodies is the worship of [idols] 2 ."

We do not say that He is other than what we have witnessed, which would invalidate His existence—I seek refuge in God from that! Rather, the reality 3 lies in Lordship (al-rububiyyah) and the manifestation of power, not in humanity, which manifests incapacity.
