[24]This is just as it was mentioned in the report of the Reins (khabar al-a‘innah), where he, His glory is magnificent, said: "O Salman, how often do you mention such things to me? Surely he rode in military expeditions and killed Marhab and others."

Then he said to me: "What do you say?"

I replied: "I do not say nor do I establish a form upon [the Meaning] 1 . [Meaning, I am not like what he believes] 2 regarding the Originator—that He is configured in His Essence." This became a grave matter to him, and he said: "This is the very essence of disbelief!"

And I, with the help of God, shall clarify my objective in that regard after explaining what transpired. That is because this man, due to his limited comprehension, anthropomorphized the Originator (al-Bari) and said: "Thus He is in His manifestation and His hiddenness—configured with a hand, a leg, a head, and a tongue," and he negated nothing from Him [except] 3 eating and drinking.

2In another manuscript: meaning, exactly as he believes (ya‘ni kama huwa mu‘taqid).
