the persistence of their thoughts upon the wonders of His handiwork, and seeking the illumination of the lights of His guidance.

The Fifth: Knowing the connection of the Veil to Him, because knowing him is the true prayer, without affirming any intermingling (imtizāj) or equality between the Name and its Meaning; and affirming absolute Power to the Meaning by essence, and affirming it to the Name through the Meaning. That prayer is the knowledge of the Distinction by the connection, and the completion of knowledge through it is the completion of all other forms of knowledge, and the most perfect and supreme of them; for within it lies the knowledge of the True Deity, the affirmation of His oneness, and the negation of any partner to Him—Exalted is God far above what they associate [with Him].

"The fifth indication" regarding the esoteric meaning of prayer and the "Turning" (al-tawajjuh): Know that the outward form of "turning" is for the prayer-performer, upon entering the outward prayer, to direct his face toward the House situated in Bakkah.
