such as the projection of that upon Hanzala ibn Sa'd al-Shabami, and His appearance to them within the veils of His occultation in the likeness of their own essences.
And His prayer upon the believers is His manifestation to them with His Essence, His veils, His gates, and the people of His holy ranks, without any alteration in His Essence or transition from His being—in order to bring them out from the darkness of ignorance into the light of the intellect. That is the meaning of the Almighty’s saying: "It is He who confers blessing upon you, and His angels [ask Him to do so] that He may bring you out from darknesses into the light" 1 .
That is, He manifests the connection within your kind and adorns Himself with your attributes—He and the people of His holy ranks—to remind you of the precedence of the response in the presence of His intimacy.
This is attested to by the Almighty’s saying: "And remind, for indeed, the reminder benefits the believers" 2 ;
