The first is obedience and the fulfillment of the religious duties of God the Exalted, which He legislated for His servants upon the tongues of His messengers and his Callers (du‘āt).
The second is Gnosis (al-Ma‘rifa), which is what the People of Monotheism (ahl al-tawḥīd) have cited regarding His—the Exalted—saying: {And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me} 1 , meaning: "except to know Me."
People have divided regarding the gnosis of God the Exalted into categories that no human can fully explain or encompass, for they are as numerous as the wayfarers toward Him in what has never ceased and shall never cease.
This is because each of them pointed toward the gnosis of the Truth, yet their indications did not exceed the limit of their incapacity to perceive the perfection of gnosis or encompass anything of His knowledge except as He willed.
Equality between human souls from every aspect will never occur, due to the variation of their precedents (al-sawābiq) in the First Origin (al-nash’a al-ūlā).
