Its ultimate goal from the outward beauty is manifest

To its esoteric reality, which is veiled from every eye.

And all the rituals of the Pilgrimage (masha’ir al-Hajj) are established in correspondence to esoteric meanings, based on what we have previously mentioned: that the Speakers (al-Nutaqa’) among the Messengers—may God’s prayers be upon them—did not command the maintenance of any form of outward worship except as a reminder of its hidden secrets; "and God strikes parables for the people" 1 . The resolute one is he who conquers his sensory self by shedding its physical obstacles and draws the sword of his determination to fight his whims. He diverts his resolve from worldly "edibles" (material gains) toward holy "information" (gnosis) and mounts, in his journey from the world of imagination to the "Shadow of Shadows" and the abode of perfection, the steed of diligence. He takes piety as his provision, clothes himself in fear [of God], keeps company with patience, and travels alongside the righteous.
