This is among the things that strengthen our claim that fasting is silence. It was only legislated as an act of worship during the day; and "the day" is an expression for the Cycle of Disclosure (Dawr al-Kashf), in which fasting is not permitted due to the manifestation of the Truth and its dominance over the authority of ignorance through justice. It is an indication of the Transfiguration (al-Tajalli); when His authority dominated the earth, He veiled Himself from the ignorant through the dark veils He manifested, such as birth, poverty, and incapacity. Yet through all of that, He is elevated above the sphere of "where" (al-ayn). Thus, His manifestation was a disclosure (kashf) and a demonstration—just as we previously mentioned—as a veiling and a disguise for the disbelievers until the Day of the Appointed Time, which is the end of the Cycle of Concealment (Dawr al-Satr) and the duration of the respite given to Iblis and his tribe. Therefore, fasting during the day was an indication of the Transfigured One veiling Himself even while disclosing Himself to the sights.

Fasting is the person of the Silent One among the persons of the Intellect rising from the right side of the Mount (al-Tur); and the Eid is the person of the Speaker among his persons
