[what is intended is] the form of subtle benevolence [surat al-lutf] which appeared through grace and intimacy, manifesting to every genre according to its own genre. Transcursive manifestation [Al-Tajalli] means the stripping away of the veil of darkness from the sight of the observer, so that he may witness from the Essence of the Manifesting Entity according to the measure of his own capacity and the simplicity of his spiritual substance, without any alteration occurring within the Essence of the Manifesting Entity—the Most High.

And Ibn Makzun said [in verse]:

Whenever the lovers describe the meaning of your beauty, Then my description of Him is His absolute detachment from every descriptive attribute.

And if they express it through subtle grace, I respond— Reaffirming that grace: He transcends far above [temporal] grace!

And if they define Him through Names, it is only that Through Him, the Names and Agnomen are established; so grasp my inner recognition [urfi]!
