An example of this is that the survival of the shadow is extended by the survival of the pillar; as long as it remains, the shadow exists by its permanence. Likewise, the kingdom of Allah is permanent and has no cessation, meaning it is impossible for Him to be non-existent while the pillar remains and His emanation upon it continues. For the emanation is never withholding over the passage of epochs and ages; by His existence is the existence of everything—among the intellects, the souls, the celestial spheres, the animals, and humans—according to the diversity of categories, shapes, forms, and voices in every undivided instant. So glory be to Him in whose hand is the dominion of all things, and to Him you will be returned; from Him everything began, and to Him is the return of every returner."

[110] Then he said: "A report narrated by trustworthy individuals from our Master, His glory is mighty, that he said: 'If Allah had willed to make His affair fully manifest, no one would have been ignorant of it; and if He had willed to conceal it, no one would have recognized it. However, He made it manifest while being veiled, and concealed it while being manifest.'"
