manifesting to my beloved ones—I beholding them and they beholding me; tomorrow I shall delight their eyes with the vision of me." This is the narration of the people of the exoteric outward [Ahl al-Zahir], yet among the people of reality [Ahl al-Haqiqah] it is more firmly established, clearer, and sounder in demonstration regarding the existence of the Essence [Al-Dhat] and Its manifestation through matching correspondence and structural likeness.
And Al-Shibli said in verse:
I remembered You, not because I had forgotten You for a moment,
For the easiest part of remembrance [dhikr] is the remembrance of my tongue.
Because of passion, without a doubt, I was on the verge of dying from love
While my heart was wandering distressed, heavily throbbing against me.
But when ecstatic love [al-wajd] showed me that You are present with me
I witnessed You existing in every place.
