Its source of arrival (mawarid) is the strangest and sweetest of divine influxes, and its unveiling (kashf) is the clearest and most luminous of holy disclosures.

Whosoever among the sincere, verified masters desires to attain it, let him fast during his days, enliven his nights with remembrance (dhikr), and maintain his seclusion (khalwah) for twenty mornings and evenings, following the orderly arrangement of Wisdom in its execution. When the twenty days have passed, watch closely for the holiest spiritual influx (al-warid al-aqdas) and the most precious breath of the All-Merciful (nafas al-Rahman) until thirty days are fully completed, without applying the kohl of sleep to your eyes during them. If you then claim that its blowing into your heart did not occur, and that the Truth did not establish its awakening within your soul, know that an impairment befell you during your spiritual contemplation (al-muraqabah). Turn back upon your soul with self-reproach, and prepare for the seclusion from its very beginning; for it must inevitably manifest, either partially or completely. If the divine manifestation (al-tajalli) and the station are perfected for you, all of its features will appear to you in absolute completeness.
