his elevation in rank and honor is like their ascent into their apogees (awjiha) and illuminations; and his decline in status and downfall is like their descent and fall into their perigees (hadidiha), to the end of the passage.

A Description of Remembrance for the Masters of Spiritual States and the Monotheistic Gnostic:

O diligent seeker, after you have disciplined your soul, adopt a place of seclusion (khalwah) within your house, and repeat what is recited to you with a deep, burning sigh (zafrah harrah) so that you may witness what delights you: "La Huwa illa Huwa" (There is no 'He' but 'He'), extending the elongation of "La" and extending the elongation of "Huwa", for it is an invocation (dhikr) of immense status. During the state of invocation, be as though you are addressing your very limbs, declaring that there is nothing in existence except the Essence (Huwwiyyah) of the Truth, the Exalted, and that everything other than Allah is merely His attributes and actions.

This contemplative vision is the station of the perfect masters, and it is the ultimate destination.
