O He who is with me and closer to me than myself! O Severer of every obstacle! You have favored me with my own self, yet You are the One who possesses it to my exclusion. It is as though I, in my heedlessness, am independent of You, and as though You, out of Your boundless generosity, are in need of me.

Muhyiddin, The Settings of the Stars (Mawaqi' al-Nujum):

Say to a man who seeks to fully comprehend his Creator: "Your utter helplessness to attain such comprehension is itself comprehension!"

Whoever submits to glorious bewilderment (al-hayrah al-gharra') is a truly realized man

While the ultimate limit of [rationalizing] knowledge regarding the All-Merciful is to perceive.

O you person who refuses anything short of His absolute verification: Verily, your ultimate destination would only be denial and polytheism (jand wa-ishrak).

For helplessness in attaining verification is like the midday sun

Its celestial spheres have coursed with him far above the atmosphere of devotion.
