While you remain with your desires and the physical body is present.

The soul is a worshiped deity for the body; so if the body becomes characterized by the soul's attributes, it becomes it, without incarnation (min ghayr ittihad). The intellect is a worshiped deity for the soul; so if the soul becomes characterized by the intellect's attributes, it becomes it, without incarnation. And the Truth (al-Haqq) is a worshiped deity for the intellect so if the intellect becomes characterized by His attributes, it becomes He, without incarnation. Whosoever does not possess the mastery of death over the sensory realm from every intellected thing—both outwardly and inwardly—is not to be called detached (mujarrad).

The Grief of the Imprisoned (Shujun al-Masjun):

O master of the celestial sphere whose sight is veiled

Close your eyes to perceive He whom nothing can perceive. And know that if you cast your sight in vain

He will leave it lingering behind the veil of the cosmos.
