Return to your secret (al-sirr) upon the occurrence of temporal events, clearing yourself of all other existing things, facing with your essence the Essence of essences; then stand for a brief moment, and you will find a state that directs you to what will unfold across creation.

The primordial intellect (al-'aql al-gharizi) is like a lamp, and the acquired intellect (al-muktasab) feeds it. From the disclosure of beauty to it by a fleeting glimpse of imagination, it is bound to wander in ecstatic rapture and be torn to pieces; and perhaps if it were to transcend the cosmos and be rent asunder at every moment, it would still not fulfill the right of that glimpse, nor could it be measured by the scale of its intoxication.

And he whose veil was the absolute release of beauty

While his localized witness was part of what the whole perceives, And did not place yearnings on every side—

As mounts toward the Beloved—the pathways have worn him down.

If you detach yourself from forms and spatial directions, and stand with Him by your very essence, and your spiritual state brings you into His presence, rendering you oblivious to your own questioning of Him,
