Even if some speak of creation, I say that speaking of manifestation (tamthil) is more appropriate due to the saying of the Exalted: {And he represented himself to her as a well-proportioned man} 1 . And it is the World of Command, and the World of Command has no measure of quality nor quantity (kayfiyyah wa kammiyyah), because it became existent through the medium of the Kaf and the Nun [the command "Be!"]. Whereas the World of Creation appeared through the medium of materials and the extension of days, due to the saying of the Exalted: {He created the heavens and the earth in six days} 2 .
The Pathway of the Seekers (Minhaj al-Raghibin): The spirit is the form of contingency within the degree of life. And it was said that the spirit is the secret of life in created things, and it is from the command of Allah. So when the subtle faculties become luminous and the elements become refined by the rays of the lights the celestial worlds reflected from above upon the human reality, the spirit detaches itself from the body, and that is according to the difference of spiritual dispositions (al-masharib).
