All of its celestial spheres, the layers of its heavens, the stars of its orbits, the pillars of its elemental natures, and their generated compounds (al-muwalladat) constitute its collective body, serving as the limbs of a single human frame and the joints of his body.

Verily, its Soul governs its spheres and moves its stars by the permission of the Creator, Majestic and Mighty is He, just as the soul of a single human being moves the limbs of his physical frame. Thus, the witnessed state of the physical body serves as an indicator for the intelligible reality.

In short, there is not a single limb within the body but that the soul possesses within it a type of action and various forms of operations. Know that when we say "the Universal Intellect" (al-'Aql al-Kulli), we mean by it the Divine Faculty that supports the Universal Soul. When we say "the Universal Soul" (al-Nafs al-Kulliyyah), we mean by it the Soul of the entire cosmos. When we say "Universal Nature" (al-Tabi'ah al-Kulliyyah), we mean by it the faculty of the Universal Soul that flows through all mobile bodies, governing them and manifesting through them and from them its actions and impressions.
