Whichever attribute it manifests, it is named after its embodiment of that specific quality from among these names. Whosoever lacks a burning, intense beginning shall not possess a radiant, illuminating conclusion; and whosoever experiences no spiritual struggle (mujahadah) shall attain no spiritual witnessing (mushahadah).
Know that the Universal Soul (al-Nafs al-Kulliyyah) effuses its grace upon the particular souls (al-anfus al-juz'iyyah) all at once (duf'atan wahidatan), constantly transforming and sustaining them at all times. However, the particular souls lack the capacity to receive its structural realities except bit by bit, one thing after another, across the passage of time.
The structural likeness of this is the intellectual effusion of particular souls upon one another: a compassionate father or a teacher who is eager (al-haris) to instruct his student desires intensely to impart everything he excels in and knows to his student all at once; yet, the soul of the learner cannot receive these matters except bit by bit, in a gradual progression.
