Muhyi al-Din: The Distinction Between Glorification (al-Tasbih) and Sanctification (al-Taqdis):
"Glorification (al-Tasbih) is transcendence above having a partner, incapacity, or defect. On the other hand, Sanctification (al-Taqdis) is transcendence above attachment to a locus (al-mahall), susceptibility to passivity or external influence (qabul al-infi'al), the taints of contingency, and multiplicity within His Essence and Attributes, or any of His perfections being merely potential rather than actual. Thus, Sanctification is more specific (akhass); for every sanctified reality is inherently glorified, but not every glorified reality is sanctified."
The Tree of Being (Shajarat al-Kawn), Muhyi al-Din:
"The lights of the Attributes of Majesty (صفات الجلال) are burning and consuming, whereas the lights of the Attributes of Beauty (صفات الجمال) are illuminating and radiant. The lights of the Attributes of Majesty are never dark, yet the human intellect cannot fathom their modality, and explaining them is exceedingly difficult. As the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: 'His veil is light; were He to uncover it, we would be consumed.
