in you, and from you, not you—as He, the Exalted, said: {There is no creature but He holds it by its forelock. Verily, my Lord is on a straight path} 1
What is meant are the essential attributes within the vision of reality through reality, where the Seer is none other than the Truth, and there remains no trace for the servant due to the stripping away of his essential attributes. The Worshiped One remains in His absoluteness, while the essence of the servant remains in its non-existence; thus, the servant is effaced and servitude is effaced, as He, the Exalted, said: {And you threw not when you threw, but it was Allah who threw} 2
As for Eradication (al-Mahq), it is the annihilation of the servant's existence within the Essence of the Truth, just as Effacement (al-Mahw) is the annihilation of his actions within the Action of the Truth, and Obscurity (al-Tams) is the annihilation of the attributes within the Attributes of the Truth. Thus: the first sees no action in existence for anything except Allah; the second sees no attribute for anything except Allah, the Exalted; and the third sees no existence except for Allah, the Exalted.
