It is not your weeping when the singers perform,

Nor is it agitation as though you have become insane.

Rather, it is that you are seen humbled before Allah, heavy-hearted,

Over your sins, throughout the expanse of time, grieving.

The soul is created in the image of the body—meaning in its shape and outer form, yet not in its density or darkness. The attachment of the soul to the body is strictly an attachment of governance and direction (tadbir wa-tasarruf), much like a king directs the affairs of his kingdom, and just as the God of the Universe has no attachment to the cosmos except by way of direction and governance.

Furthermore, just as the sun diffuses its rays into all parts of the world, the power of the soul is unitary and complete, yet it is diffused within every organ according to that organ's specific capacity. Its upward-facing side toward the high realm is the Intellect—the radiance of the Active Intellect; whereas its downward-facing side toward the low realm is the Soul—the radiance of the Universal Soul.
