[223] And the Commander of the Faithful, His glory is might, said: "If I were to strike the nose of the believer so that he would hate me, he would not do so; and if I were to pour the entire world upon the hypocrite so that he would love me, he would not do so."
[224] And the Shaykh Hatim said in his book al-Tajrid: Al-Sadiq, His glory is might, said: "The death of our followers due to their sins is more frequent than their death due to their appointed lifespans, because Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, made a fixed lifespan for everything except our followers; for they are without a fixed lifespan. Thus, if one of them intends to commit an atrocity that would remove him from the knowledge of Allah and faith in Him, Allah causes him to die before he commits it, out of mercy for him and compassion over him."
[225] And it has been mentioned in some narrations: "The believer is never free, even if he were upon an island among the islands of the sea, from one of three things: either a devil that misguides him, a neighbor that harms him, or a brother for the sake of Allah who envies him—and he is the most severe of them upon him.
