My physical temple is the composition of a Sage,

My soulful substance is universal and magnificent.

It ascended with the spirit to the highest heights,

So He slaked it with the coolness of ecstasy and a breeze.

Ecstasy is what encounters the heart and comes over it without affectation or fabrication. It is also said that it consists of flashes that gleam and then fade. He means by ecstasy that which shines upon him from the rays of the lights of the Holy Presence, and what envelops him of the flashes of intimate effusions.

The spirit returned to its Creator

While the temple remained residing in the dust.

And peace according to the Sufis is the stripping of the soul from affliction in both abodes. And majesty according to them is an expression for His Essence, the Exalted, through its manifestation in His attributes and names. It is also said that majesty is the attribute of subduing, just as beauty is the attribute of subtlety.

And indwelling according to the scholars expresses the union of two bodies such that pointing to one of them to one of them is pointing to the other, like the indwelling of rosewater.
