"THE OPINION OF THE INDIANS AND THE GREEK PHILOSOPHERS AND OTHERS FROM THE CIVILIZATIONS"
They claimed that there is not in existence except one power, and it is possessor of two faces: one of them a pure intellect by which is the movement, and the other an image in which this movement appears, and upon this, so existence and its existent are one thing in its essence even if it differed in consideration, they said: this movement is moving forever, and from its movement originated these different shadows which we name the creation, and that these shadows will return by this movement to their substance and their first, second, the more luminous origin, and it is established upon the rule which Plato imposed that there is an abstract intellective world that resembles the world of composite matter, and from this intellective world the human soul was brought down to the world of matter to be tested and purified.
And when the Alexandrians and their leader Plotinus came, they said: if the doctrine of Plato was true, and there is no doubt that it is likewise, then it is from the easy that the soul connects with its intellective world during the material life.
