Thus, when he comes to know this, he realizes that the Veil is the absolute Light of the Essential Meaning [Nur al-Ma'na] and its visible Form, while the Gate is His encompassing Knowledge and sovereign Power.'
And Abu Hasan ibn Shu'bah said in Kitab Haqa'if Asrar al-Din: 'The spiritually mature believer witnesses his Lord via His absolute luminous nature [bil-nuraniyyah]. According to the trustworthy shaykh in his treatise, manifest appearance [al-zuhur] and occultation [al-butun] occur at the moment when the Essential Meaning [al-Ma'na] conceals the Name [al-Ism] and manifests precisely like its form across three distinct modalities:
The People of Purity [Ahl al-Safa'] witness Him through absolute purity; the People of Mixture [Ahl al-Mizaj] witness Him through purity; and the People of Turbidness [Ahl al-Kadar] witness Him through turbidness.
This is because the People of Purity know that their Master has never ceased nor shifted, nor has He undergo dynamic manifestation or occultation; rather, He remains eternally Himself, without cessation, spatial relocation, or fluctuation from state to state—exalted be the High, the Most Transcendent.
