Every form that is preceded by matter but devoid of temporal duration is structurally classified as Mukhtara'ah [Invented Element], which constitutes the Upper Celestial World. And every form that is not preceded by either matter or temporal duration is structurally classified as Mubtada'ah [Primordially Innovated Element], which is the First Intellect [al-'Aql al-Awwal].
And Jalal al-Din al-Sufi said in Kitab Taqwim al-Asma': 'When the faith of a believer reaches perfection, such that he hears through Allah and sees through Allah, recognizes cosmic realities, and becomes capable of ascending to the Abode of Eternity—having recognized the Gate [al-Bab], arrived at the recognition of the Veil [al-Hijab], recognized the two worlds, and witnessed the two heavens—he witnesses Allah in the form of the venerable elder [al-shaykh al-kabir] as did Moses; as the young child [al-tifl al-saghir] as did Jesus; and as the elegant youth with a finely curled mustache [al-shabb al-mu'annaq al-maftul al-sabal] as did Muhammad. From this station, he witnesses the pristine, bald-foreheaded Form [al-Surah al-Anza'iyyah] which has neither departed nor ceased from its eternal being, even when manifested to visible sight.
