Therefore, if anyone seeks us, let them head toward them, for they are the absolute Gate [al-Bab] through which we are reached.'

The discourse of Khalifah ibn Ibrahim al-Tanukhi to his son, in his testament to him: 'Know, my son, that these souls were created by Allah from the subtle mysteries of His craftsmanship [lata'if san'atihi] and the prime substances of His wisdom [jawahiri hikmatihi]. Within them, He made His sovereign power manifest and bestowed favor upon them through His ultimate compassion. By means of them He is recognized, and present with them He is found—exalted be He who is never recognized by means of another, while everything other than Him is recognized through Him.'

[169] In accordance with the saying of our Master, the Commander of the Faithful [Imam Ali]—His glory is mighty: 'By Him are attributes described, not by attributes is He described; and through Him is the intellect recognized, not through the intellect is He recognized.'
