If the soul responds affirmatively, it joins the people of monotheism and gnosis, becoming like them. Otherwise, it is sent back [turad] in accordance with the measure of its deeds until it catches up with the purity of the luminous realm, matching what was previously stated: that He leaves no right due to Allah except that He establishes it, and no falsehood except that He demolishes it.

Thus, if the soul rejects the spiritual call, it is sent back into a second matrix [qalab than], and the call is presented to it again; if it accepts it, it joins those who preceded it. But if it rejects it, it is sent back into a third matrix, where it is presented with the call once more. This cyclical process continues up to eighty matrices [i.e., eighty lifetimes]. In every single matrix—meaning a shirt [qamis]—the soul is summoned to the wilayah. If it fails to respond throughout these eighty cycles, it retains no argument or excuse against Allah the Most High. This is the absolute justice and mercy from Him, enabling the definitive establishment of His proof over the soul, whereby all excuses are severed. From that point onward occurs the entry into the Five Khā'āt [al-Kha'at al-Khams]—and this marks the ultimate end of the spiritual invitations within human physical matrices.'
