Consequently, when material traces dissolve from the soul, esoteric secrets manifest to it; he looks into the niche of his own soul, cuts through the obscurities of his sensory perception, and escapes from the absolute grip of the four elements [al-arkan al-arba'ah]. He divests himself of his dense nature, ascends via his soul from his slumber unto the ultimate boundary of his Lote Tree [Muntaha Sidratihi], returning to the glad tidings of his guidance and the illumination of his primordial origin—immersed in his self-effacement, documenting the realization of his spiritual absence, which occurs in proportion to the soul's readiness to receive intelligible realities. Thus, he achieves the highest station, commands the most sublime abode, tastes the ultimate pleasures, and masters him who restrains and forbids his soul from following base whims, so that his vital breath never breaks from him of the Malakut [celestial realm] until the Lahut [divine reality] is fully unveiled to him, and he takes hold of the Divine Tranquility [al-Sakinah] and earns absolute serenity. He then becomes secure against spiritual error, adorns himself with the pristine robe, takes on the attributes of the angels, and operates with them in a sovereign, angelic manner.
