bound entity [makhluqah marbutah] that enters into states of goodness or evil based on what it deserves through its affirmation and recognition of its Master—the Prince of Bees [Amir al-Nahl], the Timeless, Eternal—and its practical actions alongside its brothers in whom lie hope and expectation; in accordance with the saying of the Most High: {On the Day when every soul will find what it has done of good present before it, and what it has done of evil, it will wish that between itself and that evil was a great distance }. 1
And the Most High said: {And every soul will come, with it a driver and a witness'} 2 . The driver [al-sa'iq] is its own practical deeds, and the witness over it [al-shahid] is the garment [qamis] in which it manifested—either a luminous celestial body [jasad nurani] or a human corporeal body [jasad bashari].
And Samandiyar al-Nasuli al-Mawsili said in his epistle—may Allah illuminate his proof: 'Know, O Hatim the Trustworthy, possessor of the anchored intellect, that the soul's power is held firmly in the hand of Allah; it can never exit from the rope of Allah, and it has neither escape nor deliverance from Him.
