Then he said: Do you not look at the light of the sun, which exists in a single, uniform state? Yet, it strikes glass of various colors, reflecting so that there appear within the glass the colors existing upon it according to the visual perception of the eye. Yet, the light within its own source remains one, unaltered.
That transformation is merely an accidental reflection [fi al-safah / al-shafafah] upon confrontation. Thus, the glass pieces are the hearts, the colors are the varying doctrines and beliefs, and the manifest reflector [al-mutajalli] is the Truth—Glory be to Him—unaltered and untransformed..." Until he said: "And the Glorious Quran has pointed to this, stating:
{And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it; and inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness. He has succeeded who purifies it, and he has failed who instills it [with corruption]} 1 "
For just as there are not two Gods in existence, nor two suns in the heavens, likewise there are not two souls within man. Verify this, O my brothers!
