[143] And he—His glory is mighty—also said: "If you do not know from whence you came, you will not know whither you are going."

And al-Raddad said in his treatise: "By transcending my own soul beyond the senses, I came to recognize the transcendence of my Lord beyond attributes."

[144] And the Sheikh Muhammad Mahmoud Qurful said in his treatise "The Lighthouse of Life" [Risalat Manarat al-Hayat]: The Sage [Al-Alim]—His glory is mighty—said: "Allah created the spirits of the believers within the realm of affirmation ['alam al-iqrar] from the glorification of the realm of the angels; for this reason, it was said that the believers share a single origin from a single soul. And Allah created out of the pauses [waqafat] of the world of visibility ['alam al-shahadah] a darkness, which is the spirits of the adversaries [al-addad]; because the spirits of the adversaries were created from bewilderment and disobedience, for this reason, it was said that Iblis and his progeny were created from the sins of the believers."

And the Sheikh Hussein Ahmad—Allah sanctified his soul—said [in verse]:
