and the rationalizing [al-aqilah] faculties: {And on the earth are signs for those of assured faith, and within your own souls; will you not then see?} 1 ."
And from the "Treatise on the Spoils of the Journey" [Risalat Ghanimat al-Safar], the author said: "In sum and in detail, the entirety of the good, faithful spirits share a single origin and a single source; thus, there is no distinction of excellence among them save by priority [in the primordial world] and the Response [al-ijabah] and [in] recognition and righteous deeds, just as Allah the Most High said: {They ask you about the spirit. Say: The spirit is of the command of my Lord' } 2 .
In like manner, the malicious spirits and the malicious satanic souls share a single origin and a single element; their starting point is opposition, and their element is opacity. Thus, there is no distinction of excellence among them in disbelief save by the increase in opposition, denial, and arrogance toward the close friends [Awliya] of Allah the Most High, alongside the altering of foundational laws away from their origins.
