And in the dwelling places of Quraysh they have come to be, And Ṭūs—how noble are the places of ascent!
And "Surra Man Ra'ā" [Samarra], what an excellent abode, For two masters and [noble] ladies,
Except for al-Baqī‘ which you see,
It contains no trace of built structures,
That is the Baqī‘ toward which Anyone possessing steadfastness performs pilgrimage.
And it is that which "al-Muntajab"—may Allah sanctify him—mentioned:
We are those who purified ourselves from the sediment of turbidness
And the Levant is our migration, while our home is Aleppo.
And Abū Nuwās, al-Ḥasan ibn Hāni’, said:
So when we knocked on the door, he felt a spark of fear,
And arose toward us, while his muscles trembled with anxiety,
And he said: "From where are the people?" We replied: "A group
From the Levant, seeking that which you well know."
